My Vault advertisement designed to look like a planning and collaboration board. The slogan "designed for excellence" is portrayed within the design in great detail. The advertisement would generally run as a full page ad in a magazine. Maybe even a flier as it quickly showcases the message I wanted to get across to the viewers.

I used my old trigonometry and analytic geometry homework in the background as part of the decoration. (What better use for that junk eh?) Don't copy the answers to the problems though... I won't held liable for wrong work.

All-in-all I'm quite satisfied with how the advertisement came out. I feel that it's quite creative and portrays the idea behind the advertisment well. Although I'm not quite sure if it portrays the actual product well enough.

On an unrelated side note - I've been toiling around with some poetry. If I really feel the need to be creative I'll post some of it up. I don't want to get too personal though.

The other day I got movie premiere tickets to catch Babylon A.D..

The other day I got movie premiere tickets to catch Babylon A.D..

Let me save you some money by telling you now to NOT BOTHER with the movie at all!

Stay away! Don't even think about it! Don't even utter the title! Just let it not exist! IT IS really that bad!

Then, why am I blogging about this sad excuse of a movie?

Because the movie was so crap that I wasn't paying much attention on the story at all. Instead I was looking at the plugs ins all along the movie.

So I'm not going attempt to write a review of the crappy movie (have I mentioned that it was really crap?) . Besides, other people are better at that anyway. I'm going to give a review on the product placements instead.

So here goes. I'm naming the brand being plugged in sequence of its appearance.

*Warning: There may or may not be spoilers but for this movie you really don't care. Seriously.

Google
The Google logo appeared in the opening scene on a computer screen where Thoorop (Vin Diesel) was looking at the computer screen scanning for enemies (or whatever he was doing). In the scene it appeared that Diesel was using a future version of Google Maps or something like that (the movie takes place in a not so distant future). This is Google's only appearance in the movie.

Oakley
Oakley made subtle entry into the movie where the trademark "O" logo appeared on a bag Diesel was carrying while waiting to be picked up by a helicopter on his way to retrieve his "package". After that Oakley appeared more prominently in a scene where Diesel, Michelle Yeoh (the nun) and unknown Melanie Thierry (Aurora/the package) crossed a baron tundra on snowmobiles. All three were wearing Oakley branded goggles.

Coke
Coke first appeared in the train station scene. The Coke logo appeared as advertising on large stall umbrellas and on shipping containers. Coke's plug in seemed ok at first but after that it was Coke, Coke and more Coke! There was even this one scene where the Coca-Cola logo covered the whole length of a jumbo jet fuselage. I feel that the director could do without the shot and it was only included in the movie to advertise Coke.

Malboro
I can't confirm this and now I can't recall where I saw it but I thought I caught a glimpse of the Malboro triangle logo in the early parts of the movie. Any of you who was unfortunate enough to catch the movie care to confirm or deny?

Zoo York
I first caught a brief glimpse of the Zoo York brand on a cap worn by an extra in the airport terminal scene. It was such a short moment that I wasn't too sure if I actually saw it or not but at the end of the movie where Thierry finally gives birth to the twins you see Diesel wearing a Zoo York t-shirt (which I find to be a rather odd choice of clothes - goes to show the director and costumes director made sacrifices to allow more plug ins).

Canon/Motorola/Blackberry
Eventually our three main characters make it to New York, in the establishing shot of the city, we see neon billboards displaying the three brands prominently. In one or two more scenes after this. Blackberry and Motorola appeared for a couple more times all on billboards.

Range Rover
All the other cars that appeared in the movie were generic looking and indistinguishable except for Range Rovers and Hummers. The Hummers I saw in the movie looked like the military grade type though they could also be either the H1 or H2 (it was pretty difficult to tell them apart because they appeared in short glimpses). In any case, I feel the Hummers in this movie were used solely for their appearance and the impression that they bring. So I don't think the Hummers were in the movie as plugs.

The Range Rovers on the other hand are confirmed plugs. Even the name Range Rover is mentioned in Diesel's script. Another strong clue is that the yellow cabs in the movie were all lightly modified Land Rover Discovery.

Lazeretti
This is another unconfirmed plug. I saw the name Lazeretti (spell check) on one of the quad bikes in the final showdown scene where Diesel dies (whoops, spoiler!) but the thing is I can't find anything about this name anywhere, so I could be wrong. But if you did see the movie I'm sure you'll notice it too, it's really obvious.

That's about it.

That's a lot of big brand for such a crappy movie. Conclusion: Don't go see Babylon A.D. I beg you. If you wanted to throw away RM10, might as well give it to me.

Do let me know if I missed anything.
