Hey, Josh, Johnny Depp called, he wants his look back.

Josh Hartnett was caught having sex on a security camera with some random skank in a hotel library. He was asked not to come back after staff saw him.

A source said, "Unfortunately the hotel has security cameras all over the place - the library included. This means their every spit and cough was recorded, and cringing hotel workers saw all of Josh's X-rated moves."

Yeah more like they were all sitting around the screen watching like complete pervs!

Clever thing to do, having sex in public when you're famous. Fair enough if people want to be adventurous but this story just makes me think 'urgh'. Josh strikes me as the sort that has a different girl every night. I wonder if he gets tested for STDs? There's probably all sorts going around Hollywood, especially as Paris Hilton has slept with every Z-Lister there.

And the countdown begins until some hack sells grainy screenshots of Josh doing the deed...

First of all …
Gillian Anderson in Maxim

OK, let's kill three birds with one stone here.

First of all ...

[caption id="attachment_169" align="aligncenter" width="196" caption="Gillian Anderson in Maxim."][/caption]

All the headlines on Internet news sites last week read, "X-Files star seeks treatment for sex addiction."

Only upon clicking the links did you find out it was Fox Mulder, er, I mean David Duchovny.

I know it's wrong, but I must admit that as I waited for the page to load, I was really hoping it was Scully, er, Gillian Anderson who was addicted to sex.

I'm not really sure why. Any ideas?

Secondly ...

[caption id="attachment_170" align="aligncenter" width="240" caption="I tried to pick a photo of Josh that wasn't too sexy. How'd I do, ladies ... or guys, I guess?"][/caption]

Apparently, actor Josh Hartnett and his lady friend are the stars of a sex tape, unintentionally, according to MSNBC.com. They had a private "rendezvous" in a place a little more public than they thought.

Well, one can only hope this film turns out better than Pearl Harbor. Quote from a review of Pearl Harbor from IMDB.com: " There are very few films I've come across which actually make you want to beat yourself senseless with a heavy object. But this is surely one of them. Quite possibly one of the worst films ever made ..."

I guess, really, only his co-star knows if this film was a success.

And lastly ...

There was a story on CNN.com a couple days ago entitled, "Eight bad reasons to have sex."

Upon first examination, this seems to be a bogus story, since I was positive there couldn't be eight bad reasons to have sex.

Then, after reading the article, I realized it was geared toward the ladies, and it was really a kind of warning, ... these are not good reasons to shack up with this guy. Among the poor reasons: Revenge, ego, fame, mercy, quid pro quo, clarity and weight loss. Yeah, that last one is a hoot.

But the best bad reason to have sex, by far, is the one they called "appliance envy." Now that sounds pretty graphic, but it didn't mean what I thought it meant. (What do you think I think it means? I'm not saying.)

No ... basically, this is about home appliances. Primarily air conditioners.

Yep, that's right ... air conditioners.

It seems the authors believe that if it's really hot, I mean like 103 degrees hot, and a young woman is living in an apartment with no air conditioning, it's not in her best interest to make a booty call just for the sake of waking up in a cool apartment the next day.

Some people are geniuses.

The Black Dahlia, di Brian De Palma, USA, 2006, 121 minuti

Cast: Josh Hartnett, Scarlett Johansson, Hilary Swank, Aaron Eckhart, Mia Kirshner, Mike Starr, Fiona Shaw, Rachel Miner.

The ending to Lucky Number Slevin is given away very early on. An astute viewer who has become used to seeing this type of movie will pick up on it right away.

Today I had to take mad pictures at a BurdaStyle.com party at their office and it was pretty awesome. I swear everyone there was beautiful. Haha. It was weird, I couldn't get my mind off of it. Everyone was really easy to talk to and had great energy. I went around, took pictures and talked it up with pretty much everyone, including:

Alex Yoo, a shirt designer, Alexander-West.com
Esther Dyson of EDventure.com
Robert Kalin, founder of Etsy.com

I love what I do. As the party started to wind down, it transformed from an industry event into an all out dance party! YES!! The dJ was great and played the sounds of Andrew Bird, The Arcade Fire, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Salt N Pepa, James Brown, Kanye West, and more. This dJ was dope as hell.

Afterwards, I came home (Mel's house for the moment) and made Pan fried porkchops with sauteed onions and bell peppers with garlic mashed potatoes. Superb dinner if I do say so myself. Check out the pictures of our 5 star meal. Yes, I cook. Yes, I'm good at it.

During the meal we watched Lucky Number Slevin, a movie I really enjoy. Morgan Freeman, Ben Kingsley, Bruce Willis, Lucy Liu, and Josh Hartnett are all in this movie. Honor was so into that at one point then he thought the main character was about to reach his demise, he jumped up and paced a bit. Haha.

Now I'm listening to Andrew Bird, he is awesome.

"Was willst du denn sagen"?

Slevin steckt also irgendwie etwas in der Klemme...

Weitere Beispiele?

- "Der Boss will dich seh'n!"
Slevin:"Wer?"

Siento no haber avisado antes.

I won’t lie, this is going to be a hard movie for me to review. Not just because it has been awhile since I last watched it, but also just because the way the movie is done. What we have here in Sin City, are three different stories surrounding three different main characters. One story is that of Hartigan (Bruce Willis), probably the only non-corrupted cop in the whole city, as he tries to protect Nancy Callahan (Jessica Alba).

Another story we have is perhaps the best of the whole movie, and that’s the story of Marv (Mickey Rourke). Marv is a complete badass, complete with a disgusting face. He’s a killer that has never had anyone be nice to him before, until he hooks up with Goldie (Jamie King) and becomes a changed man. Well changed in the fact that while sleeping with Goldie for the first time, she’s murdered. Now Marv doesn’t just want to kill people, he wants to kill the right people, he wants to take out the bad guys. And yes, heads will roll.

The last story is that of Dwight (Clive Owen), and while I’ve seen folks call it the worse story in the movie, I’m going to have to disagree because there are no bad stories in the movie and this one certainly doesn’t deserve to be labeled the worst. Dwight becomes friends with the waitress Shelley (Brittany Murphy), and therefore gets wrapped up with Shelley’s abusive ex-boyfriend, Jackie Boy (Benicio Del Toro). Things get worse when Dwight and some his hooker friends kill Jackie Boy, which was a bad thing to do in this part of the city. This story is loaded with gangs and pimps and whores.

If you’re looking for something different, Sin City is the movie for you. It features a vastly unique look compared to any other movie, and the end result is a masterpiece of artwork. Yes, the film is black and white, though not 1930’s black and white, and that is part of the visual appeal of the movie that will amaze you. The other colors that are used in the film (green, red, yellow, etc.) are done so brilliantly.

Bruce Willis does a great job of playing Hartigan, though it’s not an entirely new role for him. Jessica Alba is surrounded by a cast that is far superior in acting ability than her, but what she lacks is more than made up for by the fact that she is hot. Mickey Rourke steals the movie, and at least in my opinion, becomes its most memorable star character. Clive Owen and Brittany Murphy also both did very well in their roles. Two other guys who did phenomenal jobs are the assassin Kevin (Elijah Wood), who eats corpses and keeps heads as trophies, and the Yellow Bastard (Nick Stahl), who is perhaps the most disgusting character ever, a child molesting son of a Senator.

The movie is not for everyone though, as it is ultra violent and does contain sexual content. However, Sin City did capture the most awards/nominations in the first annual UWF Matinee Awards. Winning in Best Cinematography, Best Screenplay (Original or Adapted), Performance by an Ensemble Cast, and Best Directing. It was also nominated for Best Visual Effects, Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role, and Best Picture. And now, it takes it’s place in The Movie Matinee Hall of Fame.

Go, give this one a watch or two, and make sure you add it to your DVD collection as soon as you possibly can.

Black Hawk Down is exactly what a historical war movie should be; dirty, intense, graphic, and realistic violence. No BS to try and push one or two characters as the main story, and no romanticizing the facts to make a more “Hollywood friendly movie”.

There are no main characters in this film. Some guys may be shown more than others, but this movie focuses on the reality of what the REAL soldiers went through during the ACTUAL battle of Mogadishu. Get the Ultimate Edition, 3-Disc DVD set and it comes with The True Story of Black Hawk Down documentary that features interviews with the real soldiers who were portrayed in the movie, as well as timelines for the actual event. Watch that, and you will understand how true to the war Ridley Scott kept this film, which was perfectly adapted from Mark Bowden’s novel/Philadelphia Inquirer newspaper series in 1997.

Easily one of the best and most accurate war movies ever made, Black Hawk Down features career best performances from some cast members, as well as some realistic effects. A great job of showing the pure hell some 100 US soldiers went through in what was suppose to be a thirty minute mission. It’s 100 soldiers versus a very angry, very hostile, and very armed city.

A must see film.

Josh Hartnett leads a nobody cast in a lame attempt at a vampire thriller. Recap: Vampires attack a city way up north...and there won't be sunlight for 30 whole days. Thus, 30 days of night. Vampires kill everybody but a select group of hiders, one gets cocky and tries to escape and gets eaten, Josh sacrifices himself for the greater good. The end. There is more but you have seen it before under better titles with worse actors. I only recommend this movie if you are a Josh Hartnett stalker and you have already seen the rest of his catalog, and you are really bored. C-

Okay, so between last Friday through yesterday (Monday), I went on a regular ol’ DVR-watchin

Okay, so between last Friday through yesterday (Monday), I went on a regular ol' DVR-watchin' tear. I had a gang of stuff recorded I decided I better get to, or risk not having room for some of my upcoming scheduled recordings.

Stuff I watched:
- TV: Highs In The '90s (Fuse)
- Movie: The Boys And Girls Guide To Getting Down
- Movie: The Truth About Cats And Dogs
- Movie: Next
- TV: So You Think You Can Dance (Fox)
- TV: USA Basketball: Road To Redemption (ESPN2/NBATV)
- TV: My Boys (TBS)
- Movie: Lucky Number Slevin

Here's the rundown:

Highs In The '90s: '90s music? I'm so there. It was a top-20 countdown of music videos on Fuse from musicians from the '90s who liked alcohol, weed, and/or probably huffing Lysol. I think that was just about all of them, so the countdown tried to stick with the artists who had reputations for substance use and/or abuse, like Scott Wieland (STP) Courtney Love (Hole), Cypress Hill, and Snoop Dogg. As these countdowns tend to be, it was fairly debatable; for one thing, this '90s countdown included "Because I Got High" by Afroman, from 2000.

Highlights included the some of my favorite '90s videos/songs: "Nuthin' But A G Thang" by Dr. Dre/Snoop Dogg, "Who Am I (What's My Name)" by Snoop Dogg, "Woo Ha! (Got You All In Check)" by Busta Rhymes, "Fantastic Voyage" by Coolio, "Jump Around" by House of Pain, "Tha Crossroads" by Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, and "All Mixed" Up by 311. Geez, you'd think I'd have actually used drugs at least once in my life judging by the music I listen to. Lowlights included "Been Caught Stealing" by Jane's Addiction (I've always frickin' hated that song) and the fact that the countdown was hosted by Jason Mewes, aka Jay of "Jay and Silent Bob" fame. He's kinda funny sometimes, but was just grating as a countdown host.

Watching this countdown brought me back to the good ol' days: not the days when I would get high (again: me = non-drug user), but rather the days when music video channels showed music videos, hip hop was actually worth listening to, and I had nary a care in the world.

---

As an aside, Snoop Dogg's old videos had some of the funniest lines ever in music videos.

Girl: You better hurry up, baby...
Snoop: Why's that?
Girl: Cuz my father's gonna be home soon, and you know he don't like dogs.
Snoop: Oh, is that right?
Girl: But I ain't tryin' to hear what he sayin', cuz you know I love you, right baby?
Snoop: You don't love me. You just love my doggystyle...

Effin' hilarious. Brilliantly hilarious.

***

The Boys And Girls Guide To Getting Down: Very tongue-in-cheek and sorta informative of how to do things (and probably more importantly: how not to do things) if you're into (or want to be into) drugs, alcohol, and the whole party scene. I took notes the whole time and put them into my personal "How to be streetwise" handbook, which mainly includes stuff I've learned from rap songs, like E-40's nice little tidbit: "Never tell a b**** all your business / cuz one day she might be an eyewitness." That right there's real food for thought! Haha, okay maybe not...

***

The Truth About Cats And Dogs: If I watch a chick flick, it usually means all the planets and the stars have lined up just right. This one had been sitting in my DVR for just over three months. I'm not really sure what to make of this movie. It's kinda old-ish now, and in the time since it originally came out, I've grown to be annoyed with Janeane Garafolo, and I'm used to seeing Uma Thurman play smarter and/or more confident and/or more intimidating characters. I had to forget those things to watch this.

According to my channel guide, it supposedly got three stars. I don't know how it even got that many; I didn't really feel any of what I think the movie was trying to convey, like any type of jealousy Garafolo I think was supposed to have toward Uma. I just thought she was cynical and was trying to act jealous that Uma liked the guy she did. Also, usually I side with the guys in a chick flick -- cuz, well, I'm a guy -- especially when women play some sort of trick (even unintentionally) on the guy. Not this one. I came away feeling like the dude was a prick, and not justified, by how he reacted when he realized he thought Uma was Garafolo.

Also, I was just left feeling preached at, like, as a guy, I'm supposed to hate myself for ever being attracted to attractive women. In seriousness, I'm about well more than just looks in a woman, and they certainly aren't the end-all, be-all, or even a necessity. However, that said, I do appreciate a good-looking woman and/or a woman who tries. Sorry.

***

Next: I liked the idea of the movie -- I wish I could see two minutes into the future -- but it was wrought with bad acting, namely from Jessica Biel and Juliane Moore. Nicolas Cage was a'ight, and it had a few decent moments here or there, but overall? Blah. The bad guys didn't even seem like bad guys; they were just kinda there, and they certainly didn't give me the feeling they were competent enough to truly pose the threat -- trying to blow up a nuke -- they were supposedly posing.

***

Last week's So You Think You Can Dance (both episodes): The only new couple I thought did well both times out was Will and Katee, though I'm still not really a fan of either. I liked the old couples better, especially Gev and Courtney. And WTF is the deal w/ Comfort coming back for Jessica? I understand Jessica's hurt, but Comfort is only okay as a hip hop dancer. And even then, she doesn't really have any stunts or tricks or anything. I'd have had Comfort come back for just that week and not put the girls to a vote, and then resume voting for the girls this week. Instead, Kherington gets bounced and Comfort gets to stay in, even though Jessica will be on tour instead of Comfort? Screw that. I think Kherington was the only girl I really liked this year. Courtney's hot, but she's kinda blah. Also, my favorite of the guys -- Gev -- got bounced, too. He shoulda lasted at least one more week. Call me partial to the breakdancers, but I don't care. I thought, for the most part, he did great with all the other stuff they threw his way. At least Twitch is still in. After that, I don't really care. As a side note, Mia Michaels' dance numbers are hit-and-miss for me. I either love them, or I have no clue whatsoever what she was trying to do. This week? No clue. I still think she'd probably be cool to hang out with, though.

***

USA Basketball: Road To Redemption: For some reason, really bad storms have hit the two nights this has aired so far -- thus my satellite signal cutting out -- so only 23 minutes of last night's 30 minute episode were recorded. I watched that, but decided to finally getting around to watching the first installment of the series, which was a full hour. I had recorded a later replay of it off NBATV since when it originally aired on ESPN2, 40 minutes of it cut out because of storms. It was a good recap of the progression USA Basketball has taken to get to where it's at now since the Dream Team was put together in '92 and just decimated everyone. I'm a huge sucker for behind-the-scenes sports footage, even if it's nothing more than footage of LeBron James sleeping on the team plane, so the old footage of the Dream Team was great to see.

Reporter: What do you think about Angola?
Charles Barkley: I don't know anything about Angola, but Angola's in trouble.

Even though it's edited and doesn't include any of the really fun (and/or scandalous) behind-the-scenes stuff, it still is interesting to see how the current team has been put together, how they appear to be gelling on the court and off, and all the stuff they have to do, like the media blitz in New York they did.

***

Last Thursday's My Boys: I don't know why I watch this show. Okay, maybe I do: Jim Gaffigan's funny, it's sorta about sports (though less and less), and Jordana Spiro's nothing to sneeze at. But on the other hand, the Mike character is annoying beyond belief, it's less and less about sports, and some elements, including full plot threads (like Stephanie becoming a [sorta] famous author), are just unrealistic.

Having been a journalist, I just wanna know how PJ and Bobby have so much time to just sit around and do nothing. Journalism's not a job; it's a lifestyle. And if they're real Cubs' beat writers, why aren't they ever on the road covering the team? I know it's gotta be baseball season they're showing us in the show. At the very least, having grown up in the Chicago area and knowing what the weather's like, judging by their wardrobe, it certainly doesn't appear to be the offseason.

I guess I just watch it to kill time? I don't know. It's only a half hour (21 min. without commercials), so what the heck. All I know is I don't know about PJ getting w/ the wife-beater/wife-killer/child-abuser/drug-addicted guy from season 2 of 24. I'm sure he was all charming at first with the wife he ended up ultimately tossing in the trunk, too. PJ better make friends with Elisha Cuthbert and hope her boyfriend from that season grows his legs back so he can go Bruce Lee on that dude again, and/or so she can have her pops, Jack Bauer -- via cell phone -- guide her through putting two bullets in his chest again.

***

Lucky Number Slevin: I have no clue how this happened, but when I set this to record, I thought it was Smokin' Aces. I just got the two confused somehow. Smokin' Aces hasn't hit my movie channels yet. But Lucky Number Slevin was quite a pleasant surprise. Not bad.

I have to say they tricked me with the switcharoo. I didn't see Josh Hartnett actually being who he ended up being in the end. The fact his character had a made-up story in hand made it seem like he was who he was saying he was. It started out a little slow for me, but shortly in, the action and comedic dialogue and situations had me hooked all the way through the end. Lucy Liu's presence as the love interest was also quite the pleasant treat, and I was legitimately pissed when Bruce Willis shot her later on.

I thought the movie was tied together quite nicely in the end and explained how all of the subplots related to each other.

***

That's all. I told you I was on a DVR-watchin' tear. I even still have a documentary I didn't get to: Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price. At least I got the DVR cleaned out.

Hmmm... maybe I shoulda broke this post into chunks. It's massive, all over the map, and contains about a zillion tags. My bad...

I could go on and on about how exciting last night was!!

My favorite moments at The Dark Knight premiere:

A double decker tour bus passed along the red (black) carpet right as Christian Bale arrived. They had as many cameras as the paparazzi!

Patrick Wilson. Out of all of the celebs I escorted down the carpet, he was so amazing. I was shocked when he asked me about my life and where I'm from and then told me a funny story about when he first moved to NYC -- He had sat in that very theater next to Geraldo Rivera and thought it was a huge deal. "Did you know his name is Gerald?" He asked me, laughing. He also was so great to the press and genuinely talked with them and answered their questions, which I appreciate having done work in journalism. Such a nice, down-to-earth guy! Plus he remembered my name to say thank-you!! He is my new favorite actor.

Michael Caine's after-party entrance. One of the security guys didn't realize who he was and asked him for his ticket. "Ticket?" he said in his accent, and looked angry/confused before storming in. He is such a cool man. When a fan asked him for his picture he insisted his older gentleman friend be in it as well.

Best Dressed: Maggie Gyllenhaal and Norman Reedus

Maggie's dress was stunning and she looked beautiful. She just carries herself so well in person. I actually think she looks better in person than on screen.

Norman was looking hot like his former Prada model self in a fitted suit-number with leather suspenders and a lighty-tinted pink shirt. I wish I could find a better pic.

Honorable mention goes to Josh Harnett for looking... how do I describe it... SWOON... in his fedora. Look at this funny picture... that is me with the yellow shoes after I was trying to shake his hand and escort him. You can see his hand SWOOP, avoid me because he literally took his tickets and RAN down the carpet! I guess he isn't a fan of the press. At least the cameras got a few pics, haha!

Josh Hartnett Almost Acts in 30 Days of Night

First off, why have vampires not taken up permanent residence in Alaska? Hello, it’s an all you can eat buffet! I had a serious apprehension to this movie at first, because I have long stopped liking Josh Harttnet. It was right around the time he did that awful movie with Harrison Ford. And if you didn’t see it, good for you. Anyhow, this movie was perfect for him, because he didn’t have to make an attempt to actually act. Horror might be his genre. Basic recap, there was a subplot (a bit useless) about Hartnett, the town sheriff going through a divorce from his wife (Melissa George), the town fire marshall. Every year at a certain time this town goes into darkness for 30 Days. Get it… 30 Days of Night. Anyway, vampires emerge on the town, ravaging it, eating and drinking all the blood there little stomachs can hold. Our hero, Harnett, mumbles some words, saves the day. Well, I won’t ruin it for all who haven’t seen it.

Although I haven’t loved a vampire move since Lost Boys (yes, I’m that old) this truly was a good one. I liked how the vampires didn’t turn into bats, they just leapt from rooftop to rooftop. The special effects overall was pretty good. The aerial shots of the vampires, slaughtering of the townsfolk was memorable. Oh, they also used kids! You know kids in horror always equal scary.

So how do you feel it stacks up? Instant vampire classic or refreshing take on an old story? Moans, groans, hoorays, what did you think? Should you see it, if you’re a true horror fan, I say yes.
