Começou nesta quinta-feira (4) a maior promoção da Nestlé do ano, “Nestlé Torce Por Você”. Pelé é o garoto-propaganda da campanha e veste 27 camisas de times de futebol brasileiros diferentes e convida o público a participar da promoção com a mensagem “Para mudar a vida das pessoas eu visto a sua camisa”.

A promoção vai distribuir mais de R$ 7 milhões em prêmios, entre milhares de ingressos para jogos do Campeonato Brasileiro 2008, sorteios de camisas exclusivas dos times de futebol, viagens, além do grande prêmio final no valor de R$ 700 mil.

Fora o Pelé, outro destaque da promoção é a participação via SMS, sem a necessidade do uso de cupons ou envio de cartas com rótulo de produtos. A cada R$ 7,00 na compra de produtos Nestlé nas redes participantes da campanha (os produtos e locais estão disponíveis no site da Nestlé), o consumidor recebe um código (emitido na própria nota fiscal da compra) que deve ser enviado via mensagem de texto (SMS) para o número 70000. Em seguida, o participante receberá um SMS confirmando a sua participação na promoção e será informado se foi contemplado com um dos prêmios instantâneos.

Para deixar a promoção mais interativa, foi inserido um QR-Code no hotsite com a seguinte frase: “Mais diversão em seu celular. Desvende o código”. O QR-Code foi colocado para redirecionar os usuários ao wap site da promoção - http://www.nestle.com.br/torceporvoce/wap/ .

Como no Brasil o QR-Code não foi muito difundido (ao menos por enquanto) , e também é necessário baixar o leitor para conseguir scanear, creio que poucos usuários interagirão com o código (tomare que eu esteja errado :) ). Aliás, uma alternativa que me aparenta ser boa quanto aos codes 2D é a tecnologia da Snap tell, que não precisa baixar nenhum programa e funciona tão bem quanto o QR-Code.

To Wire or Not to Wire
Wireless networks are en vogue, but your installation won’t be successful unless you chose the right type of network and set it up properly. Wired networks require that each computer be connected via a wire to a central location, called a switch or hub. This often involves installing cables through walls and ceilings and can present a challenge for anyone.

If the computers in your home or office are all within 500 feet of each other, a wireless network might be for you. A wireless network has no cables. It can connect computers on different floors of a building or even across the street. Aside from the obvious benefit of not having wires, wireless networks are more convenient since the setup, configuration, and reconfiguration can often be done within minutes, without extensive planning.

Wireless networks, however, are not as fast as wired networks. If you play computer games or want to view streaming video or other high-speed multimedia, a wireless network might not have enough capacity. But, if you just want to check e-mail and view web pages, a wireless network is a good choice. To install a wireless network, you need a Wireless Access Point and a wireless network card for each computer. You will need to buy a wireless network card for each desktop computer, although most newer laptops come equipped with one.

Security is not a large concern in a wired network, since someone would have to physically connect to a wired network to break in. In wireless networks, a car parked outside with a laptop could easily connect to your network if you don’t have proper security in place. To prevent this from happening, encrypt your wireless network connections, or set a password to access the network, or do both.

Do It Yourself or Call a Professional?
If you decide to use a wired network, consider whether you will install it yourself or hire a professional. If you have a small number of computers that are all situated very close to one another, you may be able to buy pre-assembled network cables and connect them yourself. If you need to wire multiple floors and lay wire through ceilings and walls, you need a professional installation. If you go this route, it is best to begin with a floor plan of your office or home, determine what your current needs are, and consider how the network design can be adapted to future needs. A professional installer should be familiar with EIA/TIA standards, local wiring and electrical codes, and making custom cables. Network cabling professionals are often judged by the neatness of their work, because sloppy cabling is more apt to deteriorate over time, harder to manage, and poses more of a fire risk.

Having a wireless network or a wired network is not mutually exclusive. Many small offices have a wired network in addition to one or more wireless networks, depending on their needs. Wireless networks are continuing to get faster, more secure, and less expensive. Wired networks will continue to coexist with wireless networks, often in the same homes and offices.

Det enda jag behöver är en fungerande telefon som man kan ringa ifrån och skicka sms. Den gamla telefonen får jag starta om ett par gånger i timmen. Inta alls kul.

For those of you using a DSL or cable connection to surf the Web, you should be aware that your connection is "always on". That means your computer is able to go online and get security updates and other useful items without your being present, or even aware of the activity.

This is a mixed blessing, as it can also do other--less wonderful--things without your knowledge. You can increase your Web security by preventing being visible to miscreants out there on the Web by hiding your computer's IP address (a set of unique numbers used to locate and identify machines on the Internet) behind a router which is capable of "NAT" (some manufactures call this "with firewall") -- as almost all current makes and models are -- such as those sold by Linksys, Netgear, and D-Link. You can research models on the Web, and then find the best prices on such shopping sites as www.buy.com and Shopzilla.
I have seen Wireless-G routers for $20.

If your router allows for MAC address filtering, turn it on! Use a browser to log onto the router's administrator's control panel as per its instruction booklet (often it's http://192.168.1.1) and click on "enable MAC filtering". This will prevent other computers from getting a free ride by accessing your network and your Internet connection.

(If you have never logged onto your router and set a password, and your manual is lost forever, instructions can be found at the manufacturer's website.)

Putting a router between your modem and computer will also allow you to share your Web connection with multiple computers. Most routers have Ethernet ports for four of your computers.

Note: If you purchase a router that includes a wireless access point, there are some measures you should take to secure the wireless transmitter/receiver as well. First, turn on and configure encryption of at least WPA as per the instruction booklet, and 2nd, disable the SSID broadcast. These two steps will prevent intruders from "seeing" your access point, and encryption will strongly discourage a snoop from capturing and reading your traffic.
